FIRST CHURCH CORE VALUES

Our vision is connecting to God, each other and the world with the love of Jesus Christ.

In order to be faithful to our vision we seek to practice these core values.  Every church has certain values that describe what is important to it.  The values of a church shape who and what it is. 

Core values are consistent, passionate, biblical, distinctive convictions that determine our priorities, influence our decisions, and drive our ministry.  Core values are a set of guiding principles that have profound impact on how we think and act.  Core values are distinctive in that they reflect God's unique calling and assignment for us.  Core values instill passion - they generate emotion and energy.  Core values are demonstrated in our behavior.  Watch how we live and you will discover what is important to us.

1.  Valuing the Bible

Because we seek to connect to God and people we value the Bible!  We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God given to us as an instructional and spiritual guide for daily living and for our salvation.

2.  Valuing People

Because we seek to connect to God and people we value acceptance!  Each person is created and loved by God.  Christ is our example of loving and lifting up people.  We focus on walking forward with Christ and not on what is behind us.

3.  Valuing the Lost

Because we seek to connect to God and people we value evangelism!  We value sharing Christ with all people, reaching out to others through love.

4.  Valuing our God-given Gifts

Because we seek to connect to God and people we value spiritually gifted ministry!  God's spirit gives each person something to do to show who God is.  All our gifts and talents should be used to bring glory to God.

5.  Valuing Community

Because we seek to connect to God and people we value community!  We value influencing community values.  We are called to be salt and light in the world and impact the world in Jesus' name.

6.  Valuing Holiness & Integrity

Because we seek to connect to God and people we value holiness and integrity!  Living by biblical principles and being a person of Christian character are central to being healthy people whose lives are pleasing to God.

7.  Valuing Learning & Growth

Because we seek to connect to God and people we value learning and personal growth!  We value the life long journey of growing closer to Christ.  This journey is accomplished through personal and corporate worship, study of Holy Scripture, prayer, service and fellowship.
