First Church Faith Statement

In Essentials ... ONENESS

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit...one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all" (Ephesians 4:3-6).

In nonessentials... FREEDOM

"Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters... Who are you to judge someone else's servant?  To his own master he stands or falls...So then each of us will give an account of himself to God...So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God" (Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22).

In everything... LOVE

"If I gave everthing I have to poor people, and if I were burned alive for preaching the Gospel but didn't love others, it would be of no value whatever...Let love be your greatest aim" (1 Corinthians 13:3, 14:1).
